Coron Getaway (Feb 3-6, 2012)

We had a wonderful time in Coron. Our tour and accomodations has been handled by Ms. Rina of Coron Wonders so everything went out smoothly. We arrived there Feb 6, around 1PM. We went straight to our resort, Princess of Coron, to freshen up prior to our town proper familiarization and trip to maquinit hotspring.

Since it was only our first day, Ms. Rina commissioned a trike to take us to take a tour around town and to bring us at the foot of our first stop: Mount Tapyas. It is a 700-step trek up which eventually led us to a great view of the whole coron town.

A local boy who sells cold water and gatorade went up with us and incidentally became our tour guide/photographer. I admired this boy. May future siya with photography given the chance. He took our picture below:

It was an exhausting climb up and an equally knee-wobbling climb down. But the tricycle driver told us not to worry because our next stop is the Maquinit Hot Spring (which, according to wikipedia, is the only known salty hotspring in Asia).

And it IS really soothingly wonderful! It's already after sunset when we arrived so it's kind of sad that we're not able to clearly see how really beautiful it is. We just had our dinner at Maquinit and went back to the resort afterwards

Our day two trip consists of island bumming trips on Bulog, Malcapuya and Banana Island.

We went to Bulog first so we can see the sandbar prior to high tide.

Then we went to Malcapuya Island where we had our lunch. Malcapuya is LOVELY! with it's powdery white sand and laid-back feel....

Then for the last island... Banana Island...can't express how amazing this place is. Maybe the picture below will help...

And the adventure doesn't even stop there. Our 3rd day tour brought us to Coron Island Loop. It gave us a much closer look at Coron's wonderful Islets.

We went snorkelling at Siete Picados.

we had our breakfast at Calachuchi Island

We docked at Kayangan Cove at made it all the way up to Kayangan Cave.

Then to.... KAYANGAN LAKE!

The cleanest lake in the Philippines.

The HIGHLIGHT of our GETAWAY!

explored even it's not-so-dark recess

And enjoyed every minute of it.

Afterwards, we went to twin lagoons (where I lost my rented snorkelling mask, uuugh!), but enjoyed our stay there anyway.

We stopped by Vivian beach for lunch

Then for our last stop, we went snorkelling at the skeleton wreck. We have no underwater cam (w/c will be a major no-no on our next trip) SAYANG!

Our last day is just gala and pasalubong buying day. We went around town on foot and went back to our resort to prep for our departure.

Coron is such a wonderful wonderful GOD given place. I promise myself that I'll be coming back there with Hubby and AJ.
